The European Baptist Federation Executive Committee
Statement on the Current Crisis in the Middle East
The European Baptist Federation (EBF) Executive Committee notes with dismay the continuing military activity in Israel, Palestine and Lebanon.
The EBF Executive Committee:
Assures our brothers and sisters in the Baptist communities of Lebanon, Palestine and Israel, of our prayerful concern for them all and the situation of terror in which they now find themselves and supports them in the efforts they are making to assist those made homeless and refugees by this current bout of serious hostility.
Condemns unreservedly all forms of terrorism, including that instigated by Hezbollah.
Expresses concern at the death of so many innocent civilians in the countries involved and confesses deep disappointment at the disproportionate use of force by the Israeli military in their pursuit of Hezbollah which has caused serious loss of life amongst the innocent Lebanese civilian population and the degradation of the basic infrastructure of the Lebanese state.
Joins the call of the United Nations Secretary General, the European Union and others for an immediate cessation of hostilities, praying for a just and lasting peace for all peoples and a negotiated ceasefire.
Appeals to the European Union to assist Lebanon in the repair of basic infrastructure such as roads, bridges, Beirut airport and communications masts damaged by the Israeli armed forces in this recent serious attack.

Statement on London Terrorist Attacks 7 July 2005
The events that that took place in London today fill us with horror, and our prayers go out to the bereaved and the injured, together with all those who are seeking to offer help and comfort, including the emergency services, security forces and chaplains.
In a world of violence, where there is too little respect for life, we want to stand alongside all those who are the victims of such brutality, sharing their pain and anger, and embracing them with compassion.
This is a time when we are called to answer the evil of violence with an unswerving commitment to the ways that make for peace and justice. We join our Christian hope with all who seek the common good at this critical time.
When we gather in Birmingham as a family of world Baptists, it will give us an opportunity to pray together for our broken world and to show solidarity with all who suffer.

Great Christians
Teddington Baptist Church has on its website a feature about Great Christians.
This came out of a series of short presentations during services by individual members about the Christian who had been, for them, the greatest inspiration. Ten such presentations were made by a wide range of people over ten weeks - some of whom would not normally speak in a service.
The series ended with a vote in which everyone in the congregation was asked to vote for which of the ten people proposed had been, for them, the greatest inspiration.
What's Online for Teddington?
Teddington Baptist Church has launched a new kind of church website which
advertises the church and its activities by serving the local community. Have a
