Announcement by BMS World Mission
BMS World Mission is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev Chris André-Watson to the position of Area Co-ordinator for London and the South-East of England. Chris has been pastor at Brixton Baptist Church and will be familiar to many as an anti-drug campaigner in the area and founder of the 'Face to Face' young person's mentoring programme. Chris will also be known to some because he represents BMS on the Joint Assembly Planning committee. He has been outspoken on several social issues of interest to Christians and has been quoted in the media by the likes of the Guardian and the BBC.
Originally from Cannhall Baptist Church, Chris had his first taste of church ministry before his student days, when he worked as a kind of lay-minister at Little Ilford Baptist Church. He studied theology at Spurgeon's College, after which he took up the position of minister at Brixton Baptist Church, where he has been for the last ten years.
Chris will co-ordinate BMS relationships with Baptist churches and associations in the important area of London and the South East of England. With the recent additions of Edwin Penman (Co-ordinator for the South and South West England) and Delyth Wynn-Davies (Co-ordinator for Wales) to the team of BMS area/country co-ordinators, Chris' appointment completes the team.
